I once borrowed a hearing aid from someone who was a bit deaf. I put it on for a while, and marveled at the full and distinct acoustic sounds that I could hear in ultra high quality audio. I'm now thinking I should invest in such a sound booster, and wear it when I go hiking. Since I am way more an audiophile than a videophile, the experience of listening to the spontaneous symphony of the forest with augmenting technology is very enticing.
I have a mountain ear
That's with me when I go
To jutting peaks that sit near stars
Watching o'er valleys that lay below
What I hear -- the winds that dance --
Refreshen -- what a breeze!
But, it's not the wind alone, but the hushed voices
That leap out from the silent, standing trees
What sounds compare? What can match
The twitter tweet, the wing's quick flap?
The raven's caw, the tossle of leaves,
Joking flowers, swaying -- sunnyside up?
A mind is vast, the spirit more so, yet
The day to day din does drown down,
Muffles and mires what the heart desires
Nature's tick tock that the Silence surrounds.
Alternative to a line of lyrics
"The hills are alive, with the sound of music"
Society nose-dives when we're music deprived.
Nothing more cost effective than a melody well-directed.
The soul, deep down center, needs a melody that can enter.
Music has no mass to keep, but its vibes do penetrate so very deep.
The percussive effect, the overall gestalt,
Is that music is present, but it can only be felt.
It's music we need, more than swords we need chords
Human voices together, harmony restored.
